Balloch to Clydebank

The Balloch to Clydebank half marathon is a point to point race on an accurately measure course and has been granted a certificate of Course Accuracy.

No refunds will be offered in the event of a runner being unable to compete.

The Entry Fee includes transport from Clydebank Leisure Centre, Garth Drive, Clydebank G81 1BF to Loch Lomond Shores, Balloch.

Buses will depart no later than 8am. Runners should arrive changed and ready to run as there are no changing facilities available prior to the start of the race.

Chip Timing: The race chip be chipped timed for accurate results

Race numbers will be given out at race registration on the day or at race registration the day before, details to be sent out nearer the time.

Location: A point to point race starting in Pier Road, Balloch G83 8QX and finishing in Queens Quay Main Avenue, Clydebank G81 1BS

The course has a new flat fast finish at Queens Quay Main Avenue, Clydebank G81 1BS in view of the Titan Landmark.

Time: Race starts at 9am

The course: mostly flat with minor inclines on the cycle path between Dumbarton Gateway Services and the Dunglass Roundabout and between Bowling and Old Kilpatrick. The course will stay on the canal path and cross the newly opened Bowline and will continue on the canal path until Dalmuir. The race leaves the canal path at Bridge Street and runners will be directed onto Cable Depo Road and then onto Queens Quay Main Avenue to the brand new race finish. The course is not suitable for wheelchair athletes. Runners are to keep to pavements and cycle tracks at all times unless instructed otherwise. Running on the road is entirely at your own risk.

Time Limit: There will be a strict time limit of 2 hours 30 minutes for the race. Runners reaching 10 miles more than 2 hours after the race start will be asked to leave the race.

Race limited to 500 runners

Prizes: Prize vouchers for first three males and females plus age group prizes. First Male, Female and First Non-binary Teams will also receive a prize.

Results will be added to the Dunbartonshire AAA website.

If there is adverse weather on the day the race will be rescheduled with advance notice if this is possible. There will be no refunds just transfer to the alternative race date.

This race is a Scottish Athletics Limited permit event held under UK Athletics Rules.

Race Entry: entries are made through ProTay. Entries close on Thursday 18 September 2022 or earlier if the race limit of 500 runners is reached. There will be no entries on the day.

Age Limit: Competitors must be at least 17 years old on day of the first race.

Age Categories: U20: male. female & non-binary. Seniors: male, female & non-binary. Masters: V40, V50, V60, V70, male, female & non-binary.

All runners will receive a goody bag at the end of the race.

Parking: There are parking facilities in the car park adjacent to Clydebank Leisure Centre. Runners and their supporters travelling to Loch Lomond Shores by car should park in the overspill car park on the right hand side of Ben Lomond Way shortly after the entrance to Loch Lomond Shores.

Water Stations: There will be 2 water stations on the race route – at Station Road, Dumbarton near the 5 miles mark and in the centre of Old Kilpatrick about 10 miles from the start. Water will also be available at the finish.

First Aid Services will be on the course.
