More Legs, More Lungs, More Fun – XC Champs at Balloch

A great big THANK YOU to everyone who came out on Saturday and helped make the XC happen. From course building first thing, to marshalling during the races, and finally packing everything away, it was a proper team effort. We had bigger numbers this year and that meant we needed more hands on deck, so it was great to see more clubs stepping forward to help. The course was reworked to make it better for both competitors and spectators, and the feedback on the day was positive. The growth in participation is clear to see, with junior entries up almost 15% and senior and masters entries increasing by nearly 30%. It is encouraging to see more athletes and clubs buying into the event.

Junior Races
The juniors put on an excellent show. Garscube brought a large squad and featured strongly across the age groups, but Victoria Park City of Glasgow and Helensburgh were also well represented and claimed a number of wins. The fields were competitive throughout and it was great to see so many young athletes racing hard and enjoying the day.

Senior Races
We had 245 entries this year, a healthy rise from last season. The senior races went off at pace, but it was consistent running that made the difference. Andrew Kirk of Kirkintilloch Olympians and Louisa Brown of Garscube managed their efforts well and took the wins at Balloch. A fitting end to the season.

Thank you again from the DAAA Committee. This event only works because you support it. We are already looking forward to the 10 mile race that starts the 2026 season.
